The great Romantic composers enriched the flute repertoire only sparingly. This makes Franz Schubert's introduction and variations on "Trockne Blumen" from the song cycle "Die schöne Müllerin" for flute and piano all the more significant. The Vienna Urtext Edition follows the autograph of the work, which was only printed after Schubert's death. It also publishes Variation 5, which the composer extensively reworked, not only in its final version but also in its highly virtuosic first version.
