This revised edition was prepared by comparing the prior printed edition with the available manuscript sources, which are the following:

1) a manuscript, apparently intended as a final copy, on deposit at the Szecheny Library in Budapest (998 Ms. Mus.), also published in facsimile by Editio Musica, Budapest,

2) the manuscript that was the source of the first engraving by Universal Edition, apparently hand copied by the composer from the above, with a few minor alterations,

3) a printed copy corrected by Bela Bartok. (Peter Bartók, taken from the preface)

이 개정판은 기존의 인쇄본을 다음과 같은 필사본 자료들과 비교하여 작성되었습니다.

1) 부다페스트 세체니 도서관에 소장된, 최종본으로 추정되는 필사본(998 Ms. Mus.), 부다페스트 에디티오 무지카 출판사에서 영인본으로 출간됨,

2) 유니버설 에디션에서 제작한 최초의 판화의 원본이 된 필사본으로, 작곡가가 위의 필사본을 직접 손으로 베껴 쓰고 약간의 수정을 가한 것으로 추정됨,

3) 벨라 바르토크가 교정한 인쇄본. (피터 바르토크, 서문에서 발췌)
