Britten Temporal Variations (1936) for Oboe and Piano

In 1935 Britten hinted that a “large and elaborate suite for oboe and strings” was gestating in his mind. However, this work did not materialize and instead he wrote the Temporal Variations for oboe and piano. Dedicated to Montagu Slater and lasting 15 minutes, this work only received one performance during Britten's lifetime.

1935년 브리튼은 "오보에와 현악기를 위한 크고 정교한 모음곡"이 마음속에 잉태되고 있다고 암시했습니다. 그러나 이 작품은 실현되지 않았고, 대신 오보에와 피아노를 위한 '시간적 변주곡'을 작곡했습니다. 몬태규 슬레이터에게 헌정된 이 작품은 15분 동안 연주되었지만, 브리튼 생전에 단 한 번만 공연되었습니다.
