Dvorak Legends Op.59 for Piano 4 Hands

Dvorak`s cycle of ten pieces for four-hand piano entitled Legends was, from the outset (1881), set in contradiction to his Slavonic Dances - also written originally for four hands - as their lyrical counterpart. Moreover, like both series of Slavonic Dances, it wasn`t long before the composer wrote an orchestral arrangement of his Legends as well. The cycle is more contemplative and more intimate in its expression. Since it has a relatively lower degree of technical difficulty, the pieces are sought-after by pianists as a favourite addition to their repertoire.

드보르작의 네 손 피아노를 위한 10곡으로 구성된 연가곡집 『전설』은 처음부터(1881년) 네 손을 위해 작곡된 그의 『슬라브 춤곡』과 서정적인 대조를 이루며 작곡되었습니다. 더욱이, 두 연가곡집처럼 드보르작이 얼마 지나지 않아 『전설』을 오케스트라 편곡으로 작곡했습니다. 이 연가곡집은 더욱 사색적이고 친밀한 표현을 보여줍니다. 기교적인 난이도가 비교적 낮아 피아니스트들이 선호하는 레퍼토리로 꼽힙니다.
