Anton Kraft was Haydn's solo cellist in Eisenstadt, and later in Vienna, and premiered Beethoven's Triple Concerto. For the first time, a critical new edition is available that does justice to the significance of this virtuoso masterpiece, which was first published by Breitkopf & Härtel in 1804 but has long been out of print. Beethoven's spirit can be felt throughout the musical language. Overall, Anton Kraft displays an individual and creative style full of esprit, so that Haydn's praise for him for his diligence and progress in composition almost twenty years earlier is entirely understandable. Anner Bylsma recorded the concerto in 1989 (although without the missing 50 bars), followed by two further recordings by other soloists. The most recent recording is by Jean-Guihen Queyras LINK (Harmonia Mundi, No. 15159443) and was presented at the Kronsberg Academy in September 2024.
