This Fantaisie on themes from the comic opera Mignon by Amroise Thomas (1811-1896) is one of several fantasies for flute and piano by Taffanel on famous operas.
Such was the success of Thomas' Mignon during the composer's lifetime that it enjoyed more than 1,000 performances in the year 1894 and prompted a host of instrumental transcriptions. Taffanel's transcriptions are interesting in that he uses a great variety of themes and runs the whole gamut of emotions and nuances.
암브루아즈 토마(1811~1896)의 희가극 <미뇽>의 선율을 바탕으로 한 이 '환상곡(Fantaisie)'은 타파넬이 유명 오페라를 소재로 작곡한 여러 플루트와 피아노를 위한 환상곡 중 하나입니다.
토마의 <미뇽>은 작곡가 생전에 대단한 성공을 거두어 1894년 한 해에만 1,000회 이상 공연되었으며, 수많은 기악 편곡 작품이 탄생하는 계기가 되기도 했습니다. 타파넬의 편곡은 매우 다양한 선율을 활용하여 폭넓은 감정과 뉘앙스를 아우르고 있다는 점에서 흥미롭습니다.
