Description


Composed between 1967 and 1970, Tout Un Monde Lontain for Cello and Orchestra, byHenri Dutilleux, is one of the most important additions to the Cello repertoire in the 20th century.

1967년에서 1970년 사이에 작곡된 앙리 뒤티외의 첼로와 오케스트라를 위한 작품 《멀리 떨어진 모든 세상》(Tout Un Monde Lointain)은 20세기 첼로 레퍼토리에 추가된 가장 중요한 작품 중 하나입니다.


Lasting nearly half an hour, each of the five movements are inspired by a poem of Charles Baudelaire:

약 30분 동안 이어지는 이 다섯 악장은 각각 샤를 보들레르의 시에서 영감을 받았습니다.


1. Enigme / Enigma - 수수께끼 - 도입부 수수께끼 같은 12음렬 음형이 제시되며 곡의 전체적인 테마와 미스터리한 분위기를 형성합니다

2. Regard / Gaze - 응시 - 느리고 명상적인 악장으로, 거울(Mirror)을 보듯 대칭을 이루는 정교한 음형과 반전 구조가 특징입니다

3. Houles / Surges - 큰 파도 - 스케르초(Scherzo) 성격의 악장으로, 바다의 역동적인 파도를 묘사합니다. 기술적으로 가장 까다로운 테크닉이 요구되는 구간입니다

4. Miroirs / Mirrors - 거울 - 정적인 분위기 속에서 첼로의 고음역대 선율이 피아노 반주와 서로를 거울처럼 투영하고 대칭을 이루는 환상적인 사운드를 만들어냅니다

5. Hymne / Hymn - 찬가 - 격정적이고 에너지가 넘치는 피날레 악장입니다. 다양한 음악적 텍스처가 충돌하다가 마지막에는 첼로의 사라지듯 매달린 트레몰로로 여운을 남기며 마무리됩니다


The main theme, initially introduced in the first part Enigme / Enigma, is often replayed through the piece. The third part, Houles / Surges is the most difficult to interpret with a Scherzo part that`s quite challenging and no break between the movements.


Henri Dutilleux was internationally acclaimed for his work, winning prizes such as the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society and the UNESCO`s International Rostrum of Composers, among many others. His work also includes a Piano sonata, two symphonies, the Violin concerto `L`arbre des songes` (The tree of dreams) and the String quartet `Ainsi la nuit` (Thus the night).
