Estrellita, originally for voice and piano is the second song of Ponce's Dos Canciones Mexicanas, first published in 1914 and composed in the few years immediately preceding. The female singer tells Estrellita, the little star, of the anguish of her burning love. The last three lines of both stanzas form a tender refrain in which the singer asks the little star to come down to earth to tell her whether or not her love might be requited. The lush, rising opening tune spans a full octave and a half in a matter of just seven notes, with the largest leap occurring when the text speaks of the "distant sky." The opening gesture of the second stanza differs somewhat in tone from the first as the singer mulls her impending death from heartache in some broad triplets. However, the music is full of tenderness and, in sublime contradiction of the text, a kind of warm contentedness.. This arrangement by Jascha Heifetz, like most of Heifetz's, goes far beyond just adapting the voice part for violin, and might justly be called an improvement over the original on several counts.


에스트렐리타는 원래 성악과 피아노곡으로, 폰세의 《도스 칸시오네스 멕시카나스》(Dos Canciones Mexicanas)의 두 번째 곡으로, 1914년에 처음 출판되어 바로 앞 몇 년 동안 작곡되었습니다. 여성 가수는 작은 별 에스트렐리타에게 불타는 사랑의 고통을 이야기합니다. 두 연의 마지막 세 줄은 부드러운 후렴구를 이루는데, 가수는 작은 별에게 땅으로 내려와 사랑이 이루어질지 말지를 묻습니다. 풍부하고 고조되는 첫 번째 선율은 단 일곱 음표로 한 옥타브 반을 아우르며, 가장 큰 도약은 가사가 "멀리 있는 하늘"을 언급할 때 나타납니다. 두 번째 연의 첫 번째 선율은 가수가 가슴 아픈 죽음으로 임박한 상황을 긴 세 잇단음표로 묘사하면서 첫 번째 연과 다소 다른 음색을 띱니다. 그러나 이 음악은 부드러움으로 가득 차 있으며, 가사와는 숭고한 모순 속에서 일종의 따뜻한 만족감이 느껴진다. 야샤 하이페츠의 이 편곡은 하이페츠의 다른 곡들과 마찬가지로 단순히 보컬 부분을 바이올린에 맞춰 편곡한 것에 그치지 않고, 여러 면에서 원곡보다 개선되었다고 할 만하다.

This is a very nice piece. it is challenging, but with patience and perseverance, it should not be an impossibility. Do not let it daunt you. it is a beautiful presentation piece worthy of any repertoire .

marvelous mexican piece

This is a typical mexican piece from Manuel Ponce in a very understanding way transcribed by Jascha Heifetz. Do not be quenched because of the scale f# major. It is a real good training for your ears! Very complex harmonics must be thought through very well to bring out the particularity. Very good to work on variety of sound and of course: change of positions!


놀라운 멕시코 곡

마누엘 폰세의 전형적인 멕시코 곡을 야샤 하이페츠가 매우 이해하기 쉽게 편곡했습니다. f# 장조 음계 때문에 긴장하지 마세요. 귀를 훈련하는 데 정말 좋은 곡입니다! 매우 복잡한 화음은 그 특징을 잘 살려내기 위해 면밀히 생각해야 합니다. 다양한 소리와 물론 위치 변화를 연습하기에 아주 좋습니다!
