Paul Reade (1943-1997) was an English musician who, apart from working as a repetiteur at English National Opera, was very active as a composer, principally for the television.
His theme music for Victorian Kitchen Garden won the 1991 Ivor Novello Award for best TV theme music.
The work has since gone on to be one of the most famous in the clarinettist`s repertoire and is a firm favourite as a recital work, with either piano or harp accompaniment.
The work has been a long-time stalwart in the music examination field appearing on the ABRSM and Trinity syllabi.
